A beautiful, handmade cup can make teatime even more special. The choice of cup plays an important role in elevating your tea or coffee experience, as selecting a charming cup can make your moment even more enjoyable. This article introduces the Pottery Wheel One-Day Class, where participants can create their own unique tea cup, crafting a one-of-a-kind design.
1. Planning the Design
First, the design is planned. The design is entirely up to the participant, but if there is difficulty in coming up with one, other people's designs can be used for inspiration. After that, a few colors are selected, which are mixed to create stripes. There is no limit to the number of colors that can be used.
2. Softening the Clay and Mixing the Colors
The next step is to soften the clay and mix in the colors. The clay is divided according to the number of colors chosen. As the clay is kneaded, it should be softened while incorporating the pigments, ensuring thorough blending. During this process, the clay should be stretched out and folded in half. This method is crucial, as failure to do so may cause cracks during firing.
3. Making the Handle (Optional)
If a tea cup with a handle is being made, the next step is to create it. First, the clay is thrown to form a long shape, then curved. The handle is then attached to the cup.
4. Wheel Throwing
The final step is wheel throwing. As the wheel spins quickly, the clay is gently shaped by hand. Pressure is applied to the top of the clay to create a hole, which is then gradually widened. Next, the walls are raised, shaping the clay into the desired form.
5. Subsequent Process
Once the class is complete, the remaining processes are handled: attaching the handle, refining the shape, and firing the cup. The cup will be ready in about a month and can be received via delivery or picked up in person.

By the end of the Pottery Wheel One-Day Class, a unique tea cup will be created, designed entirely by the participant. It’s a fun, creative process that allows for the experience of making something personal and beautiful—turning clay into art that can be used every day.
